Toast of the town.

Contrary to popular belief, summer is a time for leather. Not the icy black or gray or white variety that ensconces us during winter, but the warm, broken-in caramel of basic brown. Found on the beaded belts that snake through the loops of cut-off denim shorts; on braided huarache sandals that camouflage the chips of your two-week old pedicure, and on leather cords that suspend shells, bones, horns, antlers, and other natural ephemera acquired on camping trips, hikes, and coastal ventures. The hue can also be found on the new Castor & Pollux wallet that arrived in the store today, in the beautiful, rich, long-awaited shade that falls somewhere between walnut and coffee with just the right amount of milk in it.

We don’t have any photos yet, but we created a mood board of sorts. Enjoy.

Cats in Bodegas

Tuesday, January 18th, 2011

I’m not normally the person that responds to cat photos but for some reason I couldn’t help but smile when looking at these. They’re taken in bodegas around the city and perfectly capture New York; where beauty crops up in unexpected places if you keep your eyes open. So here’s to keeping your eyes open for unexpected beauty in 2011.

Things change fast…

Tuesday, November 2nd, 2010

Two months ago to the day these photos were taken. My how things change fast.

And that same week we weren’t sure if little Beba was going to make it into the fall she was so sick. I’m happy to say that she is thriving and loving the crisp weather in New York. She’s got will, tenacity and drive – just a few of the reasons I love her so much.

So, maybe you all should consider adopting a pet this fall – someone to keep you warm through these upcoming months!

I love animals, I love lighting and I love these moody greys. What do you think? From here.

Went by Gavin Brown yesterday to catch the Rob Pruitt show and say hi to Corinna when what did I see on the wall but a bunch of drunk and sated panda bears sitting on whimsical chairs. I wish I had an art budget for this. This painting is huge – I want to put it in my dining room and smile every time I eat dinner. Gotta love the panda bears.

This is how crazy I am about my dogs – I’ve posted this picture before but just happened upon it again and felt that  it deserved a solo show. Everyone needs a solo show, right? That and the fact that this little girl, Beba, has been under the weather for two – yes, two! – months and seems to be fully on the mend so I thought any and all cute, kind thoughts when seeing this would get her out of the woods completely.

Positive thoughts, man.

Love the doggies.

This is Ian. You’ll be lucky if you meet Ian and Michelli – they are hands down the best cooks I know. These beans are from their garden and they are slathered in herbs from that same spot and then frizzled in pork fat.  Doesn’t get better than this.

Oh, it might just get better if you look at the above photo. These ribs are from Wal-Mart (not a whole lot of options out in the country) but when you have magicians in the kitchen it really doesn’t matter where they are from (at least in regards to taste!).

Beba and a bottle of Rosé from Wolffer Estates on Long Island. That was a lovely bottle of wine. And that skin is a stag that Ian shot in the fall – it’s for real country in Pennsylvania.

This is Nelson – a big moosh of a foster – that I believe Ian and Michelli will be adopting at some point soon. Fingers crossed!

Hanging out waiting on the fireworks display.

Sparklers make magic don’t you think?

Smoothies, coffee and beach fare being prepared. Rockaway here we come.

Beba’s been sick lately and this was the first day that she was feeling better – sassy as ever – thank God.

What’s more to say – love.

Beba’s modeling career has taken off

Saturday, October 10th, 2009

So it’s clear now that the baby t-shirts are also dog t-shirts and Beba is quite the little model. Too bad Otto won’t let me dress him up. Guess he’s too manly for those kind of shenanigans.

Keep the little ones warm.
